You know those little novellas that come in between novels that are in a series? I have never read any, just sticking to the main novels. I figured if it was a good enough story it would be in a nice big book. As you know if you have been reading my past reviews I love the Lady Darby mystery series by Anna Lee Huber. Imagine my dilemma when I discovered there was a little novella between books four and five. Was it going to be worth reading? Will I miss out on anything if I don’t read it? Book four ends with a brief mention of the big wedding and from the description of A Pressing Engagement it sounded like the novella took place before the wedding. So I took the plunge and read the novella.
Kiera and Gage are preparing for their wedding and they receive a Celtic torc as a wedding present. Having recently had a Celtic torc in a recent investigation Kiera feels compelled to uncover the truth.
I enjoyed A Pressing Engagement. It felt like the other books, had the same pacing and details, just the mystery was solved quicker. I thought it was worth reading. I would not have missed out on anything if I had not read it except for more Lady Darby. In this case reading the novella was worth it and I’m glad I did.
