A Study In Death by Anna Lee Huber

EA253C1F-75D6-463B-BF51-48541D02E6C2I recently discovered the Lady Darby Mystery series and have reviewed the first three books which I have loved. Does author Anna Lee Huber continue to pull me into the life of Lady Darby in her fourth book A Study In Death? Yes!! I devoured this book just as much as I have the past books. In A Study In Death Lady Kiera Darby is commissioned to paint the portrait of Lady Drummond, until Lady Drummond is discovered dead.Though the death is ruled an Apoplexy Keira suspects she was murdered.

A Study In Death contains all the things I have loved in the other books in the series –  mystery, a great setting, writing that makes me feel what Kiera is feeling, and great characters. One character that returns is Bonnie Brock and I am so glad he has returned! I really like the dynamic between him and Kiera and Gage. I also find the relationship between Kiera and Gage real as they both struggle at times with learning how to more deeply relate to each other. Their relationship isn’t always easy and Huber writes it in a way that makes it real and makes me root for them. I have really loved watching Kiera grow stronger and more confident as each book passes. She still has her struggles and insecurities but she seems to be able to work through them with greater confidence. I loved how she took so much more control in solving the death of Lady Drummond and seems to really be developing into a great investigator.

If you have enjoyed any of the other Lady Darby Mysteries be sure to keep going and read this one and if you haven’t read any of them yet what are you waiting for!!
